Off-Road Motorbike Enforcement in Dundee
A nine-year-old boy is among six individuals reported during a police crackdown on unlicensed off-road motorbike use in Dundee.
Authorities reported that five males, aged between nine and 35, and a 38-year-old woman were referred to the relevant authorities for road traffic offences.
During a day of action in the city on Sunday, four vehicles were seized by police officers.
Additionally, a 39-year-old man was charged with threatening and abusive behaviour.
Community Concerns and Police Response
The police stated that the enforcement operation was conducted in response to concerns raised by the local community regarding the use of these motorcycles.
Police Scotland announced that further local operations targeting the use of such vehicles will be undertaken in the coming weeks.
Police Advisory to Parents and s
A Police Scotland spokesperson said:
"Unfortunately, we are continuing to see young children driving these types of vehicles and we would appeal to parents and s to be aware of the dangers that these types of vehicles pose and the legislation around their use."
"As a reminder, unregistered, off-road motorcycles such as Sur-Ron's cannot be driven in public places, which includes roads and public parks."
The spokesperson further added that parents and s of children found operating unregistered off-road motorbikes may face prosecution.
