Fatal Collision in Broughty Ferry

John Bell, aged 74, has been identified by police as the man who died after a car left the road and entered his garden. The incident occurred at approximately 13:00 on Monday at a property on Forthill Road in Broughty Ferry.

Bell, known locally as Jack, was struck by a Maserati Quattroporte, which is alleged to have been stolen prior to the collision.

Details of the Incident and Charges

The driver, 55-year-old Fraser Garden, was taken to hospital for treatment following the crash and was subsequently released. He has since been charged in connection with the incident.

John Bell was pronounced dead at the scene.

Garden faces nine charges, including causing death by dangerous driving. Authorities allege that he stole the vehicle, lost control, and drove at speed into the garden, where Bell was trapped against the house.

Additional charges against Garden include failing to stop to provide his name and address, refusing to submit to a blood test, and failing to report the collision.

Court Appearance and Police Appeal

Garden appeared in court on Tuesday, where he made no plea and was remanded in custody pending further proceedings.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and have appealed to the public for any information that may assist their inquiries.
