Fatal House Fire in Waterside, Londonderry

A man in his 70s has died following a fire at a residence in the Waterside area of Londonderry, according to the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

Firefighters from Derry, Strabane, and two specialist rescue teams from Belfast responded to the incident and spent over two hours extinguishing the fire on Limavady Road on Sunday afternoon.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) confirmed that the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire but have stated that they are not treating the incident as suspicious.

During firefighting operations, a section of Limavady Road was closed to traffic; however, the road has since been reopened.
