Man Charged Following Laser Incident Targeting Police Helicopter

A man has been charged after a laser was directed at a police helicopter flying over a southern suburb of Glasgow.

The helicopter was operating above the area at approximately 12:05 on Wednesday when the laser light was aimed at it from Mount Florida, a district within the city.

Police officers responded by attending an address in the vicinity, where they arrested a 55-year-old man who has since been charged in connection with the incident.

Inspector Scott Anderson commented on the situation, emphasizing the dangers involved.

"Thankfully these actions did not result in anyone coming to harm, however, showing such a disregard for safety is incredibly dangerous."
"Such incidents are not only extremely dangerous and reckless, they are also criminal acts."

Inspector Anderson also urged the public to report any similar occurrences promptly.

"Anyone witnessing similar incidents should contact police immediately."

Authorities have confirmed that a report regarding the case will be submitted to prosecutors for further action.
