Fire Continues to Burn at Fife Landfill Site After Two Days

Firefighters have been working through a second night to control the blaze at the facility located in Ladybank. The fire is affecting an area measuring 656 feet by 984 feet (200 meters by 300 meters) of landfill waste.

Currently, four fire appliances continue to operate at the scene.

Impact on Local Services

Fife Council has indicated that the closure of the landfill site may cause some short-term disruptions to bin collections in the area.

Response from Scottish Fire and Rescue Service

"At its height, Operations Control mobilised 12 appliances and specialist resources to the scene, after the alarm was raised at 1.35pm on Tuesday, 12 May.
"Nearby residents are asked to close windows and doors as a precaution.
"There are no reported casualties, and crews remain at the scene."
