Experienced Skydiver Dies in Wingsuit Jump Incident

A 49-year-old man who died while participating in a skydive was highly experienced, having completed 10,000 jumps, according to Skydive South West.

The incident occurred at Devon's Dunkeswell Aerodrome, where the man was using his personal parachute equipment during a wingsuit jump alongside a friend on Saturday.

In a statement, Skydive South West expressed their sorrow over the event and extended their sympathies.

"We are deeply saddened by this incident and our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the man's family, friends and the wider skydiving community."

The centre confirmed it had notified British Skydiving about the incident, which has initiated an investigation.

Previous Fatalities at Dunkeswell Aerodrome

This tragedy follows less than a year after two fatalities occurred during a tandem jump at the same location.

On 13 June, skydiving instructor Adam Harrison, aged 30, and Belinda Taylor, aged 48, died when their parachute failed to open at Dunkeswell Aerodrome. The skydiving company responsible for that jump subsequently went into administration.
