Eleven roads have been closed in part of Merseyside after a serious crash in Huyton. Merseyside Police said a car left the road and hit a lamp-post on Liverpool Road just before 02:00 BST.
Police said there is a large police and emergency services presence at the scene following the crash, which officers said involved a black Cupra. The closures are in place on Shellingford Road, East Prescot Road, Liverpool Road, Somerset Road, Back Dovecot Place, Dovecot Place, Taurus Road, Turriff Road, Dinas Lane, Lordens Road and Fincham Road.
People have been asked to avoid the area while officers deal with the incident. Merseyside Police has also appealed for witnesses, and for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to contact the force.
Police have not released any information about potential injuries to anyone who may have been involved in the crash.
