Street Closure and Evacuation in Clackmannanshire
A street in Clackmannanshire may remain closed for up to three weeks as investigations into ground movement continue.
On Monday evening, thirty homes in Benbuck View were evacuated following reports of "unsafe structures". Residents have been permitted to return only to collect belongings and are currently accommodated temporarily elsewhere.
Clackmannanshire Council issued a three-week road closure notice citing "ground investigations and safety reasons". The emergency closure prohibits driving, parking, and loading in Benbuck View.
It is understood that the three-week closure period does not necessarily reflect the total duration of the investigation, and the closure length may be adjusted accordingly.
The area has been secured with fencing, and security personnel along with police are present to prevent unauthorized access.
Water supply to the street has been disconnected, and work is ongoing to disconnect gas and electricity services.
The council confirmed that multiple agencies, including emergency services and the Mining Remediation Authority, are involved in managing the incident.

Safety Measures and Ongoing Assessments
According to a question and answer page on the council's website, the evacuation was taken as a "precautionary measure". The council emphasized that affected properties should not be entered unless access is "agreed and supervised by the partners managing the response."
The cause of the ground movement has not yet been confirmed. The council stated that "a number of possibilities" are being considered as part of the investigation.
Structural and drainage assessments are underway, alongside a "comprehensive review of available mining information."
The local authority added there is no evidence to suggest the incident is a "wider issue."
Residents have been encouraged to contact their insurance companies regarding the situation.
Community Engagement and Support
A private meeting with residents is planned, with invitations to be sent directly to those affected.
The council acknowledged the impact on the community, stating:
"We know this has been a worrying time for residents and families.
We are working closely with our partners, including the Mining Remediation Authority, to understand the ground movement affecting the homes, while keeping people safe and providing clear updates as more information becomes available."
