Police firearms officers have been deployed following reports of a man carrying a bladed weapon in Edinburgh.

The public is advised to avoid the Calders area amid concerns over potential stabbing incidents.

An emergency response has been active since before 09:00 in the area between Sighthill and Wester Hailes.

Eyewitness Accounts

The Press Association reported that individuals in the vicinity indicated that multiple people may have been stabbed.

William Ramsay, a resident in the west of the city, stated his belief that the armed individual entered the stairwell of his building.

"He smashed the local shop, possibly stabbed two people unconfirmed,"
"Armed police, dogs been here for about two hours."
