AI Tech CEO Found with Chest Stab Wound, Inquest Reveals

Neil Muller, 54, served as the chief executive officer of the AI company Node4.

The death of Neil Muller, a technology company leader, which triggered a murder investigation, involved him being discovered with a stab wound to his chest in a bathroom, according to an inquest.

Muller passed away at a residence on Langley Road in Claverdon, Warwickshire, on 7 June.

During proceedings at Coventry Coroner's Court on Friday, coroner Sean McGovern stated that Muller, who led the Derby-based AI firm Node4, subsequently suffered a cardiac arrest and was declared dead at 06:37 BST on the same day.

Warwickshire Police reported that a 55-year-old woman from Birmingham, initially arrested on suspicion of murder, was later released on bail.

Emergency services were alerted to the property at 06:15 BST by the ambulance service, which had found Muller in a downstairs bathroom adjacent to the kitchen.

The court was informed that Muller had sustained a single stab wound to the chest, a superficial cut on one of his wrists, and that a weapon was located nearby in the sink.

A post-mortem examination was conducted, with a provisional cause of death identified as the stab wound to the chest, pending further analysis.

At the conclusion of the brief four-minute hearing on Friday, the coroner stated:

"I open an inquest touching upon the death of Mr Neil Keith Muller.
I adjourn the inquest to a date to be fixed for police to provide evidence and for [the pathologist] to provide his final report."

Following Muller's death, a Node4 spokesperson expressed the company's devastation, noting that he had joined the firm in April.

"He made a meaningful impact in a short space of time," the statement said.
"He brought real energy, momentum and passion to the business, and his loss will be deeply felt by people across Node4 and the wider industry."
