Fatal Car Accident in Shetland

An 83-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle collision near Burra in Shetland.

Police responded to the crash involving a silver Toyota Avensis at Bridge End at approximately 20:50 on Thursday.

The man was declared deceased at the scene, and his family has been notified.

The road was closed for investigation purposes and reopened around 17:40 on Friday. Authorities have requested that anyone with information come forward.

Police Statement and Investigation

Sgt Neil MacDonald commented on the incident:

"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time.
Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash and I would ask anyone who witnessed what happened, or who was travelling in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage, to contact us."
