Police have reported that a 63-year-old man who died on a street in a Highland village may have been involved in an altercation with a group of individuals. Emergency services responded to the scene on Strathpeffer's Main Street at approximately 19:35 on Monday.

Initially, Police Scotland stated that the man's death was not considered suspicious and was being treated as a medical issue. However, following further inquiries, the police issued a public appeal for witnesses after indications emerged of a possible incident in the village centre.

A police spokesperson provided additional details regarding the ongoing investigation:

"From our inquiries so far, we have established the man may have been involved in an altercation with a group in the vicinity of The Square, Strathpeffer.
As a result, the death has been reported to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service and a post mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
Anyone with any information regarding the death or the prior altercation, is asked to contact Police Scotland."
