£1m Damage Fire at Contractor Site Investigated as Arson

A fire at Mamo Building Services in Milford caused over £1 million in damage and is being treated as arson by police, with a significant emergency response and ongoing investigation.

Fire at Building Contractor Site Treated as Arson

A fire at Mamo Building Services, a building contractor located on Ballyards Road in Milford, County Armagh, caused an estimated £1 million in damage and is now being investigated as arson by the police.

The fire began in the early hours of Saturday, prompting a significant emergency response. At the peak of the incident, approximately 50 firefighters were present to tackle the blaze.

Inspector Walker from the Police Service of Northern Ireland stated that after extinguishing the fire, officers found evidence indicating the fire had been deliberately set.

Police continue to secure the scene while conducting a thorough arson investigation.

Extent of Damage and Company Statement

On Saturday, a company manager spoke to NI regarding the aftermath of the fire. The manager confirmed that the damage exceeded £1 million and included losses to stock, equipment, vehicles, and structural damage to buildings.

Additionally, a collection of vintage tractors was destroyed in the fire.
