Hit-and-Run Incident in Dundee

An 18-year-old cyclist sustained serious injuries following a hit-and-run collision in Dundee.

The incident occurred at approximately 00:55 on Old Hawkhill, near the mini roundabout at the junction of Hunter Street and Small's Wynd, located in the west end of the city.

The driver of a red Range Rover Evoque failed to stop at the scene. Subsequently, the vehicle was discovered on fire about one mile away at the entrance of Victoria Park.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the blaze, which is currently being treated as wilful.

As a consequence of the incident, the road was closed for four hours.

Police Investigation

Sgt John MacDiarmid commented on the ongoing investigation:

"Our enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver of the vehicle who failed to stop and to establish the full circumstances.
We are asking anyone in the area at the time to get in touch if they have information that could assist with our investigation, particularly relating to the Range Rover before and after the crash."
