Death of 17-Year-Old Tristan Shae Kerr from Strangulation Injuries
Tristan Shae Kerr, aged 17 and residing in Abertridwr, passed away due to strangulation injuries, a coroner's inquest has heard.
The Gwent Coroner's Court was informed that Tristan was found deceased on 5 February 2026 outside a building on Lower Francis Street, Abertridwr, Caerphilly County Borough, "after sustaining serious injuries."
Emergency services, including police and ambulance, were called to the scene. The court heard that his body was subsequently transported to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
The cause of death was recorded as "strangulation injuries to the body including the left lung and heart."
Coroner Rose Farmer stated that police investigations are ongoing and adjourned the inquest to hold a full hearing on 24 November 2026.
"The family of Tristan Kerr paid tribute following his death, describing him as a beloved son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend."
Four individuals have been charged with murder in connection with Tristan's death. They are expected to appear in court again next month.
