Fatal Shooting in Tarsus District
A gunman opened fire in southern Turkey, resulting in four fatalities, according to local media reports.
Eight additional individuals sustained injuries in the incident that took place in the Tarsus district of Mersin province, as reported by Turkey's Hurriyet newspaper and CNN Türk.
Details of the Incident
The shooting reportedly began at a restaurant. The suspect, identified as a 17-year-old youth, fled the scene in a car following the attack.
Authorities have initiated a large-scale operation to apprehend the gunman, utilizing helicopter support as part of their efforts.
Victims and Motive
According to Turkish media, two of the victims were killed inside the restaurant and are believed to be the owner and an employee.
Following the initial shooting, the gunman continued his attack, killing a shepherd who was grazing sheep nearby and a lorry driver.
The motives behind the suspect's actions have not been disclosed at this time.
