The mother and sister of teacher Enoch Burke have been arrested, according to a report by Irish broadcaster RTÉ.

Martina and Ammi Burke were taken into custody at Castlerea Prison in County Roscommon on Tuesday.

This arrest follows a High Court order issued in Dublin four weeks prior, which mandated their arrest and imprisonment for contempt of court.

In an official statement, Gardaí (Irish police) confirmed that they executed a High Court order.

"Two women will be brought to Mountjoy Women's Prison in Dublin," the Gardaí added.

Circumstances of the Arrest

It is understood that Martina and Ammi Burke arrived at the prison to visit Enoch Burke, who is currently held in custody at Mountjoy Women's Prison.

Prison staff contacted Gardaí, who were reportedly waiting for the family members as they left the facility, according to RTÉ.
