Fatal Shooting Incident in Dún Laoghaire

A man in his 40s was fatally shot in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin, on Sunday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 08:30 local time at Patrician Park, Kill Avenue.

Irish broadcaster RTÉ reported that the man's body has since been removed from the scene by authorities.

Gardaí, the Irish police force, stated that a post-mortem examination will be conducted in due course. They have also appealed to any witnesses to come forward with information regarding the incident.

Road closures remain in effect in the area, including Kill Avenue and Glenageary Road Upper, with local diversions currently in place to manage traffic flow.

Community Reaction

Irish Labour Party councillor Thomas Joseph expressed the community's reaction to the shooting, describing residents as "shocked and scared."

"It's quite unfortunate. I haven't seen anything like this before, and people are shocked and scared.
People are living very peacefully, and especially in this area, very community-oriented people talking to each other, but obviously, this is my first time hearing something like this it's a big shock," he said.

Local resident Anthony Byrne also commented on the rarity of such an event in the area, stating,

"It's very strange. I can't remember anything like this before, first time I've seen anything like this."
