Cost of Living Payment Date Moved Earlier
The Government of Jersey has announced that the date for issuing the Community Costs Bonus, a financial payment to eligible households, has been brought forward.
Previously paid in the autumn, the bonus has been distributed in July for the past few years to provide quicker assistance to families facing cost of living challenges.
The Government of Jersey said the Community Costs Bonus had previously been paid in the autumn, but for the past couple of years had been moved forward to July to "help families as soon as possible with cost of living pressures".
This approach will continue in 2026, with eligible households receiving a one-off lump sum payment of £516.50.
Automatic payments will be made to claimants whose eligibility has already been confirmed. Others will be able to apply for the bonus starting from 14 July.
The government confirmed that the eligibility criteria will remain the same as in 2025.
These criteria include that only applicants where one adult has lived in Jersey for at least five years can apply, the combined tax liability must be less than £2,735 in 2025, and the household must not be receiving income support.
Funding for the scheme is estimated at £2.466 million, allocated from existing budgets within the Department for Employment, Social Security and Housing.
