€700m Cross-Border Train Contract to Be Signed by Irish and NI Leaders

A €700m contract for new cross-border trains between Belfast and Dublin is set to be signed by Irish and Northern Irish leaders during Taoiseach Micheál Martin's Belfast visit.

€700m Cross-Border Train Contract to Be Signed

A €700m (£605m) contract for new cross-border trains is anticipated to be officially approved by Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) Micheál Martin during his visit to Belfast today.

The new fleet for the Belfast to Dublin Enterprise service is scheduled for delivery starting in late 2028.

It is understood that the Taoiseach will be accompanied by First Minister Michelle O'Neill and Deputy First Minister Emma Little Pengelly for the signing ceremony, alongside Tánaiste (Irish Deputy Prime Minister) Simon Harris.

This signing is one of several engagements planned during the Taoiseach's visit.

Martin is also expected to meet with political leaders at Stormont as well as local business executives.
