Funding Available for Community Climate Initiatives
Staffordshire Moorlands District Council is offering grants ranging from £400 to £5,000 to support community-based projects aimed at addressing climate change.
The council indicated that eligible initiatives could include activities such as tree-planting, transport schemes, or recycling projects.
This funding represents the latest round provided by the council, with applications scheduled to open in April.
Previous Grants and Supported Projects
Since 2021, the Community Climate Change Fund has awarded grants to approximately 40 groups.
Projects supported to date include a tree planting scheme organized by the Dane Valley Climate Action Group, a green arts festival run by Moorlands Climate Action, and a weed and litter pick coordinated by Longnor Action Group.
Council Statement and Upcoming Funding Rounds
Nigel Yates, the councillor responsible for the environment, commented on the initiative:
"By providing community-led schemes with these grants we're making sure people can take action at a very local level."
The next funding round will be open from 1 April to 31 May.
The council also announced that an additional round of funding is planned for the autumn.
