Pitbull described the event as a "blessing" and an "honour" after he and his fans set the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps during his headline performance at BST Hyde Park.

The rapper and singer, widely known as Mr Worldwide, has inspired a global trend in recent years where concert attendees emulate his signature look, featuring suits, sunglasses, and bald caps.

Before his set at the London festival, tens of thousands of fans assembled by the main stage to be officially counted for the record attempt.

It was later confirmed that 22,141 people wore bald caps, establishing the new Guinness World Record. Pitbull expressed his gratitude, calling the achievement a "blessing" and an "honour".

"Who would have ever thought a first-generation Cuban would be able to be in London record-breaking and record-making one for the Guinness Book of World Records,"

said the Grammy Award-winning artist, whose birth name is Armando Christian Perez.

"I want to thank my fans, the baldies, for their support. They are my number one focus."

Origins of the Record Attempt

The idea to attempt the world record was initiated last year by BBC Radio 1 Breakfast presenter Greg James and content creator Jack Remmington. Remmington shared a video proposing the record attempt at BST, and James helped to involve Pitbull.

Fans' Experience and Reflections

Fans who arrived in full Pitbull attire told beat they felt "sweaty and bald" but "amazing" as they enjoyed temperatures reaching 32°C in London.

When asked why they wanted to participate in the world record attempt, fans described Pitbull, also known as Mr 305, as "an inspiration" and "so fun," bringing "such good vibes."

"He just brings out the best in everyone,"

one fan added.

"Look at everyone, it's amazing, it's great to be a part of this."

Pitbull's Performance Highlights

Pitbull energized the crowd with a selection of his hit songs, including fan favourites like "Fireball" and "Give Me Everything," which were met with enthusiastic cheers from the sea of bald caps.

He also incorporated Latin classics such as Daddy Yankee's "Gasolina" and maintained the crowd's excitement during his multiple costume changes by playing a mashup of club classics.

To show appreciation to the largest crowd BST has ever hosted—nearly 70,000 attendees for the occasion—Pitbull performed the Oasis hit "Wonderwall," which has become an unofficial anthem for England during the World Cup.

"To be able to celebrate and congratulate each other - it's an honour, it's a privilege and it's priceless,"

he told the audience before the iconic chords began.

His supporting acts, pop star Kesha and rapper Lil Jon, joined him on stage for their collaborative tracks.

Kesha, who also wore a bald cap, and Pitbull both praised their hit "Timber" as a song that "completely changed my life."

Pitbull's Career and Achievements

The 45-year-old artist, born in Miami to Cuban parents, began his career in the Latin hip hop scene with his debut album M.I.A.M.I. in 2004.

By the late 2000s, he transitioned into pop music with hits such as "I Know You Want Me" and "Hotel Room Service," which achieved chart success in the UK and US.

Pitbull has collaborated with global stars including Christina Aguilera, Usher, and Shakira. He has sold over 25 million albums worldwide and won a Grammy for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album for his record Dale.

The festival also featured a lively performance by Tinie Tempah, known for his song "Pass Out." He told Newsbeat that people are connecting with artists who evoke nostalgia, as they "hark back to a more simple time in the world."

"I think it's amazing to be an artist that's been in people's lives year-on-year, memories upon memories.
Whether it's graduating from school, going to your first Fresher's rave, meeting your partner, I think that's always what resonates with me about music."
