The Cage
In his intense follow-up to the gritty police drama The Responder, writer and former police officer Tony Schumacher turns his attention to a modest Liverpool casino. The series stars Sheridan Smith and Michael Socha as employees who discover they are both dangerously skimming money from the establishment. Smith portrays a stressed single mother fighting to keep her family home, while Socha plays a semi-recovering addict battling gambling, substance abuse, and loan sharks. The central question is whether they can trust one another. The show’s title references the cashier’s cage where money and chips are exchanged, but Schumacher’s focus lies on the oppressive circumstances that entrap his flawed yet relatable characters.
Secret Garden
Set in the remote Wye Valley in Wales, this series follows Robin and his family living in a cottage described as “nestled in a sea of green.” Despite Robin’s profession as a wildlife cameraman, much of the natural world around him remains hidden, from tiny hibernating dormice to badgers, buff-tailed bumblebees, and “trees haunted by tawny owls.” The program features spectacular photography capturing these elusive creatures and environments.

Cruising to the Ends of the Earth
This unapologetically extravagant travel show promises breathtaking scenery and enormous ships. The first episode takes viewers aboard the giant Diamond Princess in Yokohama, sailing past stunning Japanese landscapes. Alongside the majestic views, the show includes moments reminiscent of Cruising With Jane McDonald, such as an ancient sake barrel ceremony that resembles a provincial bingo callout.
The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer
The latest Celebrity Bake Off episode features an emotionally charged challenge requiring participants to create a doughy, flour-filled representation of their most memorable date. The celebrity contestants include Roman Kemp, Sarah Beeny, Maxine Peake, and Amelia Dimoldenberg, known for Chicken Shop Date, who is expected to excel at this assignment.
Harry Wild
This campy Irish murder-of-the-week drama offers a lighthearted contrast to more serious crime shows. It has been described as making Murder, She Wrote appear highbrow. The series is ideal for viewers seeking to unwind. In this week’s episode, a tip from Harry’s granddaughter leads Harry (played by Jane Seymour) and Fergus (Rohan Nedd) to investigate the disappearance of two ballroom dancers.

Karaoke Competition
The sentimental karaoke competition, reminiscent of The Piano, arrives in London this week. Contestants perform songs that are said to “really tell their story,” with producers incorporating emotional backstories. Highlights include a 90-year-old man who regained his voice after a stroke by singing Sinatra, and a father-son duet performing a meaningful lullaby.
