Global Counsel Enters Administration
Global Counsel, the lobbying firm co-founded by Peter Mandelson, has entered administration.
This development followed the departure of major clients after revelations about Lord Mandelson's alleged connections with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Administrator Interpath stated on Friday that this situation had a
"monumental impact on the business"and left the company's directors with
"no option".
A senior source described the firm's collapse as a
"total nightmare and unfair", warning that it could result in the loss of 120 jobs.
On Thursday, Global Counsel had already indicated that
"a significant number of redundancies [would] be made by the administrators when they take control of the company".
Company Background and Leadership Changes
Global Counsel operates offices in Berlin, Brussels, Singapore, Washington DC, and Doha.
Lord Mandelson resigned from the board in 2024 but remained a shareholder until earlier this month. His co-founder, Benjamin Wegg-Prosser, stepped down as chief executive on 6 February.
Impact of Epstein Files Publication
The firm's future was uncertain following the release of documents from the Epstein files, which highlighted Lord Mandelson's links to the disgraced financier.
