Young Entrepreneur Develops Mobile Mini Golf Course

At just nine years old, Hari Gwilym from Ynys Môn has transformed his interest in golf into a business venture.

With the support of his parents, Hari has developed a mini golf course that is used at local holidays and weddings.

Starting from hitting a ball in his garden, Hari now transports his golf course from one location to another, generating income from his idea—enough to purchase his own quad bike.

Inspiration and Development of the Mobile Course

Aled Hughes visited Hari to play a round of golf and learn more about the nine-year-old entrepreneur.

'I had a golf party when I was five and Mum gave Dad the idea to build a golf course. He was at the party and I was thinking what to do with him.
'We then thought about making a mobile golf course to take it to places,' he said.

The nine-hole course fits entirely on the back of a trailer owned by Martin, Hari’s father, before being transported to various events.

Hari enjoys the process of unloading and assembling the course at each location.

'In six weeks I made enough money to buy my own quad bike,' Hari said.

Course Features and Challenges

The course presents several challenges to players and includes various models such as lighthouses, boats, bridges, and small buildings.

According to Hari:

'Hole eight is the hardest on the course—you have to try to get the ball through two pieces of wood and into the hole in one.'

Educational Benefits and Skills Gained

Alongside planning the course with his father, the business has been highly educational for Hari.

His mother, Lisa, commented:

'Hari has learned many valuable skills since setting up his small golf business; his communication and mathematics skills have improved significantly.
'He is learning how to deal with people and money, and knows how much change to give customers.
'He creates short videos and content on social media to promote his business and product, thus learning new skills in that area as well.
'All while still enjoying a little game of golf himself! It has been a great success so far, and Hari is delighted.'

Looking Ahead

Who knows if in the future we will see Hari competing as a golfer in the Masters tournament? Or, if not, perhaps he will become a master in the business world.
