Major Shopping Arcade Renovation Planned for Cardiff City Centre

Cardiff city centre is scheduled to undergo a multi-million pound renovation this summer, focusing on the enhancement of shopping arcades and leisure facilities.

The UK's largest Hollywood Bowl venue, which will include an electric go-kart track, is planned to open within the capital's St David's shopping centre.

In addition, renovations have been announced for the adjacent Queens Arcade, which will feature three new restaurants and restoration work on the frontage along Working Street, according to property development company Landsec.

Landsec has submitted proposals for the initial phase of these works, stating that the plans aim to generate employment opportunities and attract increased visitor numbers to the city centre.

The company has indicated that this venue will be the largest in the UK, featuring its first electric go-karting attraction, 20 bowling lanes, interactive darts, and a live sports bar.

Meanwhile, Landsec, which owns and operates St David's shopping centre, has emphasized that the Queens Arcade redevelopment will enhance the city's shopping, dining, and leisure offerings.

"Our exciting new plans for Queens Arcade build on our long-standing investment in Cardiff. Our plans will elevate the site in line with other areas of the city," said Helen Morgan, centre director.

Although a specific opening date for the new Hollywood Bowl has not been confirmed, the company has indicated it will open during summer 2026.

The first phase of the Queens Arcade redevelopment is currently awaiting a decision from Cardiff council.

At this time, the company has not disclosed the full list of restaurants or businesses that will occupy the new units.
