The biggest night in fashion has officially commenced.
Celebrities are arriving at the 2026 Met Gala, showcasing their interpretations of this year's theme, "Costume Art." Organizers encouraged attendees to embrace a lavish and whimsical dress code, resulting in a night full of extravagant and imaginative outfits.
The annual gala serves as a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute and provides a platform for celebrities and fashion houses to present spectacular and bold designs.
Adding to the evening's excitement, the golden-voiced Broadway star Joshua Henry elevated the atmosphere by performing "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" on the Met's iconic steps, accompanied by a live band and dancers.
This year’s guest list is particularly star-studded, with co-chairs including the multifaceted musical icon Beyoncé, acclaimed actress Nicole Kidman, tennis champion Venus Williams, and Vogue's Global Editorial Director Anna Wintour.
Below are some of the standout moments and looks from the event. Updates with additional appearances will follow throughout the night.
Anna Wintour's Feathery Confection
Anna Wintour, Vogue magazine's Global Editorial Director, attended her signature event wearing a custom Chanel ensemble inspired by avian elements. The outfit featured a turquoise feathered cape layered over a darker green dress embroidered to resemble feathers, embodying the gala’s theme of costume artistry.

Oscar-Winning Actress Nicole Kidman Goes Red
Nicole Kidman, an Oscar-winning actress and one of the event’s co-chairs, appeared in a striking red, long-sleeved beaded column gown by Chanel. The gown was detailed with red feather ruffles accentuating her sleeve cuffs and midriff. She was accompanied by her daughter, Sunday Rose.

Venus Williams' Sparkling Accessories
Venus Williams, the American tennis star and five-time Wimbledon champion, also co-chaired the gala. She wore a black sparkling gown with a flared train, complemented by an opulent silver, jewel-encrusted neck adornment that was the centerpiece of her look.

Lauren Sánchez Bezos Channels "Madame X"
Lauren Sánchez Bezos, wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and an honorary chair at this year's gala, wore a Schiaparelli gown that paid homage to one of art history’s most famous and controversial dresses: the one depicted in John Singer Sargent's "Madame X." Her tight-fitting navy blue dress featured off-the-shoulder, embellished sparkling straps.

Broadway Star Joshua Henry Puts on a Show
Joshua Henry, known for his role in "Ragtime," did more than just walk the red carpet. He opened the evening with a live performance of Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," supported by dancers and a band, captivating the audience on the Met steps.

Emma Chamberlain's Painting-Inspired Gown
Influencer Emma Chamberlain wore a multi-colored gown designed by Mugler and crafted by Miguel Castro Freitas. The dress resembled a painting, starting with dark blue hues at the base and transitioning into yellow and teal abstractions. The gown also featured floor-length fringed sleeves, enhancing its artistic flair.
