The acclaimed 2015 PlayStation exclusive video game Bloodborne is being adapted into an animated film, co-produced by YouTube personality Jacksepticeye.

Despite widespread fan demand, Bloodborne has never received a sequel since its original release. Details regarding the film's plot and release date have not yet been disclosed. The project is being developed by Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions, who have stated that the adaptation will remain faithful to the essence of the game.

The announcement was made at CinemaCon 2026, an annual event that gathers studios and cinema executives to preview upcoming productions. This year's event commenced on Monday in Las Vegas.

Attendees also experienced a holographic presentation by Tom Holland showcasing a new clip from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as well as a first look at The Social Reckoning, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2010 film The Social Network.

Bloodborne was developed by the renowned Japanese studio FromSoftware, building upon the success of their Dark Souls series, which is known for its challenging and strategic combat mechanics.

The game’s focus on skillful gameplay combined with its gothic Victorian atmosphere quickly earned critical acclaim, and it is widely considered one of the greatest video games ever created.

Since its release, Bloodborne has achieved a near-mythical status among gamers, who have persistently requested a sequel or remake. However, FromSoftware has concentrated on other projects, including Elden Ring, which is also slated for a film adaptation.

Jacksepticeye, whose real name is Seán McLoughlin, initially rose to fame as a YouTuber and has recently expanded into acting. He made a cameo appearance in Iron Lung, a successful horror film that was self-financed, filmed, and directed by fellow social media star Markiplier.

Additionally, McLoughlin lent his voice to Punch Up, a diminutive supervillain, in the critically acclaimed video game Dispatch released last year.

According to US publication Variety, the new clip reveals that Tom Holland’s character, Peter Parker, discovers that MJ has moved on.
