Aimee Lou Wood and Erin Doherty Receive Dual Bafta TV Award Nominations

Aimee Lou Wood and Erin Doherty each receive two Bafta TV Award nominations, with Adolescence leading overall. The awards celebrate outstanding performances across drama, comedy, entertainment, and documentaries.

Leading Bafta TV Award Nominations for Aimee Lou Wood and Erin Doherty

White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood and Adolescence actress Erin Doherty have emerged as prominent contenders for this year's Bafta TV Awards, each securing two nominations.

Wood is nominated in the best actress category for her portrayal of a young woman with agoraphobia in the BBC Three comedy-drama Film Club. Additionally, she is recognized in the best supporting actress category for her role as a lively yoga teacher in the dark comedy White Lotus.

Erin Doherty has received nominations for her role as gang leader Mary Carr in Disney+'s Victorian thriller A Thousand Blows, as well as for her portrayal of a psychologist in Netflix's intense drama Adolescence.

Adolescence leads the nominations with a total of 11, followed by A Thousand Blows with seven.

Both series feature Stephen Graham, who is nominated for best actor for his role as a troubled father in Adolescence.

The series Adolescence, which sparked a national conversation about teenage violence and social media upon its release a year ago, is nominated for best limited drama.

It also boasts five acting nominations, including those for Christine Tremarco, Ashley Walters, Owen Cooper, alongside Doherty and Graham.

Best Actor and Actress Nominees

The best actor category includes Colin Firth for Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, Ellis Howard for What it Feels Like for a Girl, James Nelson-Joyce for This City is Ours, Matt Smith for The Death of Bunny Munro, and Taron Egerton for Smoke, alongside Stephen Graham.

The best actress shortlist features Jodie Whittaker for Toxic Town, Narges Rashidi for Prisoner 951, Sheridan Smith for I Fought the Law, and Sian Brooke for Blue Lights, in addition to Wood and Doherty.

Drama and Entertainment Nominations

A Thousand Blows is also nominated for the prestigious best drama award, competing against last year's winner Blue Lights, as well as Code of Silence and This City is Ours.

On the entertainment front, The Celebrity Traitors leads with the most nominations, including best reality show and best entertainment performance for host Claudia Winkleman.

The show is also among six nominees for memorable moment, the sole award voted on by the public. The nominees in this category include:

Comedy and Additional Nominations

The Motherland spin-off Amandaland dominates the best comedy actress category with three nominations for Lucy Punch, Philippa Dunne, and Jennifer Saunders.

Amandaland is also nominated for best scripted comedy alongside How Are You? It's Alan (Partridge), with its star Steve Coogan nominated for best male comedy actor.

Both Disney+ Star Wars thriller Andor and 's Northern Ireland 1970s drama Trespasses have six nominations each.

Documentaries and Factual Programmes

The awards also recognize excellence in news, current affairs, documentaries, and factual programming.

Among the nominees in these categories are Louis Theroux: The Settlers and One Day in Southport, Bibaa & Nicole: Murder in the Park, Undercover in the Police (Panorama), and Gaza: Doctors Under Attack.

Jury and Event Details

Nearly 40 juries composed of industry professionals are responsible for selecting the majority of Bafta television and craft category nominees and winners.

The Bafta TV Awards ceremony will be held at London's Southbank Centre on 10 May.
